In the latest episode of our new YouTube video series, Interview with the Author, we sat down with acclaimed National Geographic contributor and pre-eminent science journalist, David Quammen. David’s 2012 book, Spillover, introduced readers to the concept of zoonosis, or spillover as it’s more commonly known. His work has gained renewed interest after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, suspected to have first emerged in bats in Southern China.
David’s most recent book, The Tangled Tree, introduces readers to Horizontal Gene Transfer, a surprising means by which humans have evolved key anatomical features, which have resulted from infection by animal-borne viruses.
